Hey Everyone!
I am pleading with you to help us save our 50+ year old Magnolia trees from destruction by Oncor Electric Delivery. Oncor has mutilated many trees all over the DFW Metroplex. We have been fighting it out with the folks at Oncor for over a month now. They want to chop off the top two-thirds of the trees and several licensed arborists tell us that this will most likely kill them.
Our story was featured in the Dallas Morning News and on CBS11 News. We are also featured in an online blog that is run by the DMN.
Here’s a link to the blog. http://oakcliffblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2009/07/another-oak-cliff-tree-dispute.html those are the trees in dispute that are pictured on the blog.
I have included a couple of photos also. The first one is of our Magnolias today and the second one is two doors down from us and an example of what Oncor has done to almost every tree in the area. Which is what we want to avoid.
Oncor has absolutely no one to answer to within the city and the Public Utility Commission does not care what they do. The PUC has granted Oncor yet another rate hike recently to cover their own mistake http://www.nbcdfw.com/news/local-beat/Oncor-Customers-To-Pay-for-Smart-Meter-Mistake-53177347.html
Oncor has told us that the ONLY option is to pay them to relocate our two poles to the city managed/owned parkway across the street from our house which has absolutely no vegetation that would ever interfere with their lines. They have given us a bid to re-route the lines of $10,382.98. We obviously do not have that kind of money lying around so any amount that you could donate to help us would be greatly appreciated. We are not a non-profit organization so donations would not be tax deductible. If we fail to raise enough money, and Oncor wins and mutilates our trees, I will donate everything that we do receive to a local arbor society.
Here is a short YouTube video to see some of the devastation that Oncor has caused to other areas in the metroplex http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Athmsz4U5Ug this was a lady in Bedford that lost her fight with Oncor.
