The bottom line is that the ABC crews are not "arborists". They have been given a job to do in the quickest time possible.
Should Oncor have a highly trained paid arborists working with each of the crews? The answer is a resounding "yes".
Should we write Oncor and recommend this to them? Another yes! What are you waiting for?
What I did find out this week, was the "10" foot rule of clearing brush and trees is set by the state and is not some number dreamed up by the crews. One can speculate that the state created this rule as recommended by the electric company. So what if all trees were growing within 10 feet of any power line? That is a very good question. If Oncor was smart (and they are not) they would reinvest their earnings and do bigger upgrades to the system like burying the lines underground. What a concept!
Just remember, if you want to get wet, ya gotta jump in the pool. Whether it's tree timming, better lighting, vandals or anything that will make the our quality of life better, we need a lot of people to participate and make our voices heard.
