There will be one community plot that will be dedicated for the Food Bank and all in the community are encouraged to help maintain this one.
People who are interested in having a plot, and those in the neighborhood who just want to help get this garden kicked off should bring rakes for raking out additional weeds and grass; lumber 8 x 10 or 10 x 12 for plots, nails and hammers; any pallets that could be deconstructed to be reconstructed for compost bins; any thing else someone thinks would be helpful.
We have not had much luck on getting wood chips from JD Tree Service. JD says that clients are opting not to have their tree debris ground to save costs. Any thoughts anybody?
Need source to order compost and soil mix for the plots.
Need contacts for arranging for irrigation piping and heads. If we have by June 4th we will do preliminary layout.
Any small garden tools that can be donated are appreciated. There will a tool wall/bin for use by all.
There is a huge tree for shade for picnic tables, benches, old lawn chairs. Keep a look out for big trash days for any re-useable items, or if you have any to donate. This would be greately appreciated.
Those who do want plots, we will have covenant leasess to be signed at 50 cents per square foot annual fee: 8 x 10 = $40.00; 10 x 12 = $60.00
We could do a seed order from an organic source all together, or folks can buy their own seeds. Since we have a later start than we hoped for, probably want to consider shade cloth for seedlings.
Hope to see as many in the community as possible.
